Tim Robertson, a native of Southern California and proud UCLA alumnus, has dedicated his life to advancing the field of astronomy and inspiring a passion for space exploration. A prominent figure in the astronomical community since 1971, Tim’s journey reflects a deep commitment to education, public outreach, and the pursuit of scientific discovery.

A Lifelong Advocate for Observational Astronomy

Tim has been an integral member of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers (ALPO) for over five decades. As the current Associate Director of ALPO, he continues to shape the organization’s mission of supporting amateur and professional astronomers worldwide. His leadership of ALPO’s Training Program for more than 30 years has cultivated the skills and knowledge of countless novice astronomers, leaving an enduring legacy of education and mentorship.

Co-author of the “Novice Observers Handbook,” Tim has created an invaluable resource for beginner astronomers, guiding them through the fundamentals of planetary and lunar observation. His work reflects a passion for demystifying the cosmos and making astronomy accessible to all.
